London’s luxury hotel landscape is about to welcome a major new player. Six Senses has confirmed that its first UK property will open in February 2026, inside the redeveloped Whiteleys department store in Bayswater.

What It Means For Hospitality Professionals

This opening signals more than another high-end hotel launch. It represents the growing intersection of wellness, sustainability and urban luxury – a shift from traditional five-star formality toward experience-led living.

Six Senses London will bring together a 110-room hotel, spa and private residences, plus a members’ wellness club that reimagines how guests, residents and locals connect. For chefs, GMs and department heads, it’s a reminder that tomorrow’s guests value purpose, calm and connection as much as service and polish.

Reimagining a London Icon

The redevelopment of Whiteleys – led by Foster + Partners and Finchatton – combines heritage preservation with modern sustainability. The Grade II-listed façade, central courtyard and grand staircase will be restored, while the interiors, by AvroKO and EPR Architects, blend Art Deco nostalgia with contemporary design.

Six Senses CEO Neil Jacobs calls it a personal project: “It’s a wonderful opportunity to pay homage to this heritage and bring our brand values to life in this part of town.”

Wellness and Experience at the Core

At the heart of the new property is the Six Senses Spa, featuring a 65-foot magnesium pool, Alchemy Bar, relaxation areas and over 3,500ft2 of fitness and wellness space. The design echoes London’s rhythm – from vibrant street energy to quiet, restorative calm.

The second-floor social and wellness club adds coworking areas, dining and programmes built around personal growth – a space designed to engage residents, members and travellers alike.

As Anna Bjurstam, Strategic Advisor for Six Senses, recently confirmed, “We’re thrilled to bring the Six Senses philosophy to London in February 2026.”
