Are you a hands-on Café Manager who thrives on the floor, leads from the front, and takes real pride in how a business runs day to day?

No evenings. No late nights. A role with real responsibility and influence.

Benefits

  • £31,000–£34,000 per year (depending on experience)
  • Full-time role, 5 days per week
  • Daytime-only operation – no evenings or late nights
  • Senior, trusted position with genuine autonomy
  • Close working relationship with owner and Head Chef
  • Opportunity to help shape systems and the future growth of the business
  • Supportive, values-led independent business

The Role

As Café Manager, you’ll lead the front-of-house operation day to day, while working closely with the Head Chef who runs the kitchen. You’ll be visible on the floor, part of the rota, and fully embedded in service.

This role plays a key part in strengthening how the café operates, with the long-term aim of creating a strong flagship model that can be replicated as the business grows.

Responsibilities as Café Manager

  • Lead the FOH operation day to day and during busy services
  • Work confidently across all FOH stations, with strong coffee skills essential
  • Manage the team end-to-end: rotas, holidays, staffing levels, onboarding, performance and development
  • Set and maintain clear standards around service, cleanliness, pace and atmosphere
  • Support the wider operation by stepping into the kitchen when needed during busy or short-staffed periods
  • Take ownership of labour planning, basic cost awareness and daily profitability
  • Ensure the café is run safely, compliantly and professionally at all times
  • Use simple systems and documentation to keep the café organised and consistent
  • Work closely with the owner and Head Chef to improve operations and build a scalable framework for the future

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience managing a busy café or hospitality site
  • Confidence running service, people, and rotas end to end
  • A visible, hands-on leader who enjoys being on the floor
  • Strong coffee knowledge and understanding of FOH service flow
  • Organised and tech-confident (EPOS, spreadsheets, shared systems)
  • Someone who values clear communication, good systems and doing things properly
  • Interest in being part of a growing independent business

The Environment

This is a hands-on management role in a fast-paced, daytime café setting. You’ll be trusted to make decisions, support the team during pressure moments, and help build a culture where service feels calm, organised and welcoming — even when it’s busy.

If you’re looking for a Café Manager role with daytime hours, real ownership, and the chance to help shape a growing independent business, this is an excellent opportunity.
