At Jubilee Hospitality, our mission has always been to connect exceptional culinary talent with opportunities that allow them to shine.
We also understand that the power of good food goes beyond the restaurant walls—it has the potential to bring joy to those who need it most.
With this in mind, this Christmas, we channelled our passion for culinary excellence into a special charitable initiative in the true essence of giving…
A top chef donated…
Instead of simply contributing funds, we decided to offer something more personal to a local charity providing Birmingham’s homeless with a free warm, safe place to eat, sleep, and enjoy company at Christmas – the expertise of one of our skilled chefs!
From 24th-28th December, we helped the shelter serve 2,500 hot meals and 1,100 assorted sandwiches those that needed it most.
Our chef worked for a total of 43 hours on a festive menu that not only satisfied hunger but also brought a touch of culinary delight to the shelter.
Janet, our chef, shares her poignant reflections on a remarkable shift.
This is the first time I have cooked for people who really needed it. It was a truly moving experience and you can call me back next year with bells on!
Cooking for homeless people is a deeply enriching and humbling experience that transcends the culinary realm and is a profound reminder that the act of sharing one’s culinary skills can become a source of comfort, dignity, and hope.
Shirley Mallon, the Secretary and Executive Trustee at Birmingham Christmas Shelter, said…
Thank you for donating so many professional chef hours for cooking for homeless people during our Shelter Week. Janet was a great asset in the kitchen. Our guests tell us how much they appreciated the good food they received and that people like you, cared about their welfare.
Can you help?
The shelter receives no funding from statutory agencies and is entirely reliant on donations.
Hence if you are interested in making a donation, you can do so by contacting Birmingham Christmas Shelter at 07935 390 566 or enquiring via their website: birminghamchristmasshelter.org
We hope this story inspires others to consider unconventional ways of giving back and to recognise the extraordinary power that a well-prepared meal can give.
