Sous Chef / Second Chef | £30k for 36.75 Hours | Care Home

Location: Central Gloucester (Just off City Centre – No Driving Required)

Pay: £15.50/hr Weekdays | £16.50/hr WEEKENDS | Time & a Half Overtime

Hours:
36.75 hours per week (Rolling Rota: 4 days Wk 1, 3 days Wk 2 | 7:30am – 6:30pm)

The Role:

Act as the Head Chef’s key second-in-command at a welcoming residential care home in Central Gloucester. You will lead the small kitchen team on the Head Chef's days off, preparing nutritious, fresh home-cooked meals for our care home residents in a stress-free, supportive setting.

Key Duties:

• Deputise for the Head Chef, leading prep, service, and care home kitchen operations.

• Cook high-quality, fresh meals catering to dietary and nutritional needs of residents.

• Maintain strict hygiene, food safety (HACCP), and stock management standards.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience as a Sous Chef, Second Chef, Senior CDP, or Lead Cook.

• Confidence to run a care home kitchen independently on shift.

• Strong background in fresh-food cooking and high food hygiene standards.

• Care home or healthcare catering experience is a plus, but not essential.
