We are now recruiting for a chef to come into our residential care home kitchen to cater for all of our residents. Do not think that this food is substandard by any means, it requires much more than a ‘microwave technician.’ Food must be cooked from fresh daily for up to 50 residents so you must have a suitable level of ability. (Food Safety level 2 is a must!)

Given the nature of our clients the menus revolve around traditional British cuisine and at times cater for people dietary requirements. It may be necessary to puree or blend some meals for certain residents. (softs and purees this will be referred as.)

You will be given full control over menu planning but must be able to conform to a strict kitchen budget. Remembering that our residents are fond of familiarity it may come to pass that set days have set meals upon your choice. Food must be fresh, healthy and nutritious.

Unlike a lot of other kitchen work, the required hours are not too tasking and average out at about 37.5 hours per week. Im sure like most people you will enjoy being home for dinner by 5 o’clock every evening.

Breakfast will consist of a freshly cooked breakfast served in buffet style and a warm and cold lunch option. You will then prepare and serve dinner, clean down the kitchen and complete all relevant paperwork to comply with HACCP regulations. You will also be in charge of ordering all kitchen ingredients including cleaning chemicals on our strict kitchen budget.

Of course it being a Residential Care Home a DBS criminal record check is necessary so it is preferred that you already hold an in date enhanced DBS certificate. If you do not hold on of these we can gain one for you at the cost of £55.
