Head Chef – Education | KT22, Surrey | £43,000 | Term Time Only

 

Our client is looking for an experienced Head Chef to lead the food offering at a prestigious independent day school in KT22, Surrey. Catering for approximately 650 pupils each day, this is a varied and rewarding role that also includes delivering high-quality hospitality for events such as sports days, parents’ evenings and governors’ lunches.

 

The role:

• Reporting to the Group Manager, you will take ownership of delivering an outstanding food offer across the school.

• Oversee menu planning, food quality, compliance and stock control.
• Lead, train and motivate the kitchen team to consistently deliver high standards.
• Build strong working relationships with the Head of School, parents and pupils.
• Manage budgets, food costs and financial targets effectively.

 

This is a Monday to Friday position, working 40 hours per week during term time only, across 38 weeks per year.

 

What we are looking for:

• A proven Head Chef with a strong and stable work history.
• Experience in school catering or B&I environments would be highly desirable.
• Experience delivering themed dining events, high-end hospitality and large-scale functions.
• A confident, hands-on manager who can inspire the team while working alongside them.
• Excellent culinary skills, with strong attention to detail and presentation.
• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with pupils, school staff and stakeholders.
• A flexible, positive and willing approach, with a genuine can-do attitude.
