Looking for a chef role that gives you your evenings, weekends, and school holidays back (and even better – without ‘pro rata’ pay) – without stepping away from quality food or leadership? This well-run secondary school in the Bristol area fits the bill perfectly – apply now.
I’m recruiting a Chef Manager to lead the catering operation at a well-run secondary school in the Bristol area. This is a fresh-food, people-focused role where standards matter and the kitchen is run properly.
The role:
- Monday to Friday
- 6:30am–4:00pm (45 hours per week)
- 42 working weeks per year (term time, inset days + 3 additional weeks)
- £38,000 per year (Not Pro Rata)
- Bonus potential up to 10% (company discretion)
What you’ll be doing:
You’ll take full ownership of the kitchen – leading the team, delivering fresh, seasonal food at volume, and working closely with the on-site client to ensure service runs smoothly.
You’ll be hands-on, organised, and confident managing people, standards, and due diligence.
This isn’t about “school food” — it’s about good food done properly, which is why clients and students genuinely enjoy what’s served.
What’s in it for you:
- All evenings and weekends off
- School holidays off
- Free meals on shift and full uniform provided
- Clear development pathways with free qualifications
- Staff discount scheme across 850+ retailers
- Monthly team incentives and shopping voucher rewards
If you’re an experienced Chef Manager (or a strong chef ready for that next step) who values quality, structure, and a proper work–life balance, this is a role worth talking about.
