Pubs and restaurants need jobs filling! Can you help?

The Hospitality is still struggling with hiring issues, and the busiest period of the year is now on our doorstep.

Last month, UK Hospitality chief executive, Kate Nicholls, feared the industry “simply couldn’t cope” down to the shortage of staff needed to cook, serve and pour for the Christmas period.

So what’s to blame for the hospitality industry’s latest plight?

It’s easy to point the finger at Brexit – the steady and ready flow of EU workers has indeed eased up – but – why then, are there also huge staff shortages in Berlin’s restaurants, bars and hotels.

Ditto for all across Europe and elsewhere, including the USA

Let’s turn our attention to the pandemic…

Thousands of hospitality workers were laid off or furloughed and have decided simply not to come back. The knee-jerk reaction would be to say, they all decided to work in an office and get paid more money – dig deeper however, and this doesn’t appear to be the case

Scratch beneath the surface and the primary reason may well be the pandemic has changed what we are looking for in life…

Lockdown meant many of us could take life slower, to smell the roses in the garden and spend time with family.

Indeed, a daily walk in the park with the family was practically a legal requirement.

For thousands of us, the pandemic has been a time of unspeakable loss, financial burden and anxiety, but it has also been a time where we have taken pause and reevaluated what is important to us.

  • Flexibility
  • A work/life balance
  • Being valued

And employers have been taking note…

We’ve been working with many to make a lifestyle a key factor when creating a job role.

Things like… Getting to choose your shifts and flexibility has pricked the ears of many looking to return to the fold.

Indeed, this last month has seen us fill roles with the following being the primary drivers in getting people hired…

  • Being home for dinner
  • Healthy holiday and overtime
  • Predictable 9-5 shifts
  • Flexible rotas
  • Good weekly pay

Of course, it all boils down to being valued and offering flexibility and understanding.

If this is the type of environment you would love to work within, we love to speak with you. The demand is high (and a job can be for life, not just for Christmas!)
